Solar pumps run directly from solar panels through an MPPT controller, with no grid connection, no inverter and no battery bank, and suit off-grid homes, farms, livestock watering and small-scale irrigation. A solar pump stores water rather than electricity. During daylight it fills a tank, and the tank supplies water through the night and on cloudy days. That removes the cost of batteries and grid electricity entirely – the sun is the only running cost.
