Clean water, dirty water or stainless steel?
Match the pump to what is in the water. AQDP clean-water pumps have a fine intake for rain water, pools and tanks – they are not for sand or mud. AQDS dirty-water pumps pass particles up to 8 mm, for garden run-off, washing water and emptying collection traps. AQDB stainless steel pumps pass solids up to 40 mm and are built for continuous, heavier use in sumps, basements and domestic waste water. None of them is designed for raw sewage with fibres and solids from toilets.

How to size a drainage pump
- Measure the vertical lift from the water surface to the discharge point.
- Add about 1 m for every 10 m of discharge hose.
- Decide how fast the area must empty: volume (m³) ÷ time (h) = flow in m³/h (1 m³/h ≈ 16.7 l/min).
- Choose the range by what is in the water (clean, particles up to 8 mm, solids up to 40 mm), then the size whose maximum head is at least 1.5 × your total head.
Worked example: a basement sump with dirty water and grit, 4 m lift and 20 m of hose (about 2 m extra) gives 6 m total head. 1.5 × 6 m = 9 m, so the AQDB 6-14 (12 m max. head, 250 l/min max. flow, 40 mm outlet) is a good match; the AQDB 5-10 (10 m) would be close to its limit.

Installation notes
- Stand the pump on a firm, level base or hang it by the handle with a rope – never by the cable.
- Keep the float switch free to move; check it cannot catch on the sump wall or hose.
- Use hose or pipe at least the size of the outlet; kinks and long small hoses cut the flow sharply.
- Connect through an earth-leakage (RCD) protected circuit.
- Clean the suction filter regularly on dirty-water duties.

Frequently asked questions
Can AquaDuty drainage pumps handle sewage?
No. They are for clean or dirty water. The AQDB passes solids up to 40 mm, but raw sewage with fibres needs a dedicated sewage pump with a cutter or vortex impeller.
What is the difference between AQDP and AQDS?
AQDP is for clean water without abrasive particles. AQDS has a larger passage for dirty water with particles up to 8 mm.
Do these pumps switch on automatically?
Yes. Each has a float switch that starts the pump as the water rises and stops it when the level drops.
How deep can I submerge the pump?
3 m for the plastic AQDP and AQDS models, 5 m for the stainless steel AQDB.
How much water can the biggest model move?
The AQDB 15-14 delivers up to 400 l/min (24 m³/h) at low head and reaches 16 m at shut-off.
Can I pump hot water?
No. The maximum liquid temperature is 35 °C for all AquaDuty drainage pumps.
Which outlet size do the AQDB pumps have?
40 mm on the AQDB 5-10 and 6-14, 50 mm on the AQDB 10-10 and 15-14.
Is a plastic or stainless pump better?
Plastic pumps are light and economical for occasional use. The AISI 304 stainless AQDB is heavier-duty, handles larger solids and is the better choice for regular sump or basement duty.
