Leo End Suction and Close Coupled Pumps
Leo end suction pumps move large volumes of water for irrigation, water supply, HVAC and industry. The LEP range is a bare-shaft pump built to BS EN733 / DIN 24255; the XST range is a close-coupled standard centrifugal pump and the XZS range a stainless steel close-coupled version.

End suction pumps take water in along the shaft axis and discharge it vertically through a volute. They are single-stage, simple to maintain and efficient at high flows and moderate heads.

Bare shaft or close coupled?
LEP pumps: flow 0.5 - 440 l/s, head 2 - 152 m, liquid up to 105 °C, pH 4 - 10, 10 bar (16 bar on request), cast iron casing and impeller as standard.
- Bare shaft (LEP) - pump only. Mount on a base plate with a coupling and a 2-pole or 4-pole motor of your choice. Best for large duties, 4-pole slow-speed running and easy servicing (back pull-out).
- Close coupled (XST, XZS) - the impeller sits on the motor shaft. Compact, no alignment needed, supplied complete with a 400V motor.

Installation tips
- Size the suction pipe at least one size larger than the pump inlet and keep it short.
- Use an eccentric reducer (flat on top) on the suction to avoid air pockets.
- Fit an isolating valve on both sides and a non-return valve on the delivery.
- Check alignment on bare-shaft pumps after the base is grouted and again after the first run.

Which motor do I need for an LEP pump?
It depends on your duty point and speed. Send us the flow and head and we will size the motor, coupling and base plate.
What does the XST performance table show?
Each XST product page lists head at each flow at 2900 rpm, taken from the Leo XST performance parameter table.
