Submersible pump cable (SANS 1574-3, 600/1000 V) is the cable that runs down the borehole from the control box to the pump motor. It has to carry the motor's starting current, survive years under water and run down the borehole alongside the rising main without snagging. We have a limited batch of short drums – ends of production runs in lengths from 100 m to 450 m – at a reduced per-metre price. Each drum is sold complete, so pick the length that suits your borehole and save against buying a full 500 m drum.
What's on special
- 3 core 1.5mm² blue (round) – small single-phase pumps, short runs. 7 drums, 150–250 m.
- 4 core 1.5mm² green (round) – small three-phase pumps. 6 drums, 150–450 m.
- 3 core 4mm² blue (round) – 1.5–3 kW single-phase pumps or longer runs. 31 drums, 150–450 m.
- 3 core 6mm² blue (round) – 3–5.5 kW pumps and deep boreholes. 9 drums, 100–300 m.
How to choose
Size the cable on the pump's full-load current and total run length, keeping volt-drop under 5%. Three cores (round blue, red/yellow/blue cores) for single-phase 230 V pumps; four cores (round green, red/yellow/blue/black cores) for three-phase 380 V pumps.
