Vega Sewage and Fat Destroyer
Vega Sewage & Fat Destroyer (SFD) is a range of natural bacteria and enzyme products that digest grease, fat, hair, paper and sewage in septic tanks, grease traps, drains and sewage sumps. The bacteria turn the waste into water, carbon dioxide and mineral ash, which reduces blockages, odours and pump-outs without harsh chemicals. How biological treatment works
Enzymes break large molecules of fat, protein and starch into pieces small enough for bacteria to eat. The bacteria in SFD are dormant in the pack and revive within minutes of meeting water, then multiply and spread through the system. Each product combines enzymes with selected, naturally occurring (not genetically engineered) bacteria.
Chemicals kill the bacteria. Bleach, strong drain cleaners, disinfectants and ammonia stop biological action. Do not use SFD together with ammonia, and keep harsh chemicals out of septic tanks and grease traps you are treating.

SFD100 dosing guide
A guideline from the manufacturer. Mix the powder with water at room temperature (not hot) and apply when no water will be drained for six to eight hours, so the bacteria can settle into the waste.

Effluent outside pH 5 – 8.5 should be corrected with a suitable acid or lime before dosing.

Where it helps pumps
Grease and fat build up on float switches, pump impellers and sump walls, causing pumps to stick on or off and blocking rising mains. Regular SFD dosing in a sewage sump or grease trap keeps floats free and reduces the solids a Vega sewage pump has to handle.

Frequently asked questions
Is Vega SFD safe for septic tanks?
Yes. It is a biological product that digests organic waste and does not attack plumbing, people or the environment. It restores the bacteria that household chemicals kill.
How much SFD100 do I use in a septic tank?
As a guideline, 100 g per week to start, then 100 g per month for maintenance.
Can I use SFD with bleach or drain cleaner?
No. Chemicals kill the bacteria. Do not use it with ammonia, and avoid harsh cleaners in the treated system.
How long does a grease trap block last?
Each SFD104 block releases bacteria continuously for about 30 days, depending on the flow through the trap.
Which product is best for a restaurant grease trap?
SFD103 liquid or SFD104 blocks for regular treatment, or SFD110 liquid with a dosing pump for automatic dosing.
Does SFD help with odours?
Yes. By digesting the organic waste that rots and smells, it reduces odours from drains, traps and septic tanks.
