AquaDuty Solar Pump Kit

The AquaDuty Solar Pump Kit runs a 4" borehole pump straight from solar panels – no batteries, no inverter, no electricity bill. The 4QGS2.5-70 kit pairs a 1.2 kW brushless DC pump motor with a solar pump controller that protects it against low and high voltage and overload, and restarts it automatically when the sun comes back.

What decides the result: the solar array

A solar pump only pumps what the panels can drive. The AquaDuty curves show the same pump with two arrays: with a 540 Wp array it reaches about 70 m at low flow; with a 1 620 Wp array it reaches about 125 m and close to 3 m³/h at lower heads. Water delivered per day therefore depends on the array size, the season and the total head – size the array for the head you need, not only the pump.

Size the panels before the pump. The kit is rated for a solar array of 72 – 110 V DC (controller input range 41 – 160 V DC). Too few panels in series and the controller will not start the pump; too many and the input voltage limit is exceeded. Send us your head and daily water need and we will specify the panel layout.

Rating-plate data from the AquaDuty Solar Pump Kit brochure. Panels, cable, pipe and mounting are not included.

How to size the kit

  1. Measure the water level while pumping, then add the height to the tank inlet and about 5–10 % for pipe losses.
  2. Estimate the water you need per day (for example 50 l per cow, 150 l per person).
  3. Work on 5–6 effective sun hours in summer and less in winter.
  4. Choose the array size for your head – the AquaDuty curves are drawn for 540 Wp (lower heads) and 1 620 Wp (highest heads) – wired within 72 – 110 V DC.

Applications

  • Small agriculture and irrigation
  • Domestic water supply off the grid
  • Livestock watering
  • Filling reservoirs and tanks during daylight

Frequently asked questions

Does the AquaDuty solar kit need batteries?

No. It runs directly from the solar array during daylight and stops when there is not enough sun. Store water in a tank for night use.

How high can it pump?

Up to 143 m at shut-off; AquaDuty quotes working heads up to 110 m with a large enough array.

How much water will it pump?

Up to 3.9 m³/h at low head in full sun. Daily volume depends on the head, the array size and the sun hours.

What voltage do the panels need to give?

A solar array voltage of 72 – 110 V DC; the controller accepts 41 – 160 V DC.

What protection does the controller have?

Under and over voltage protection, overload protection and automatic recovery.

Is the price listed?

The kit is priced on request. WhatsApp us on 082 516 2248 with your borehole details for a quotation including panels.
