Vega DL Pumps
The Vega DL is a vertical multistage centrifugal pump: a stack of stainless steel impellers under a vertical motor, with suction and discharge in line at the base so it drops straight into a pipe run. Eleven ranges cover flows from 0.6 to 120 m³/h and heads up to about 300 m, for building pressure boosting, water treatment and reverse osmosis, irrigation, boiler feed and industrial washing. This guide explains the ranges, how to read a DL model code, how to select one, and current prices for pumps and spares.

Why a vertical multistage pump?
Each impeller adds pressure, so a DL builds high head with a small footprint and good efficiency. The in-line ports mean it fits a straight pipe run without elbows, and the vertical motor sits on top out of the way of spills. Efficiency peaks between 48% on the small DL1 and 78% on the DL45.
DL pumps are for thin, clean liquids with no solids or fibres. Sand, grit or fibres wear the close-clearance stages quickly. Filter the suction, and for dirty water choose a sewage pump or DZA end-suction pump instead.
Model code
In DL5-130, DL5 is the range and rated flow (5 m³/h) and 130 is ten times the number of stages, so 13 stages. Larger ranges add a suffix: DL32-100-2 has 10 full stages with 2 reduced-diameter impellers, which trims the head to suit the duty.

Highest head is the head of the largest model at the low end of its flow band, from the Vega performance tables. Data at 2900 rpm, 50 Hz, water at 20 °C, to ISO 2548 class C.
What the price covers. Vega DL prices on our store are for the pump with the motor bracket and coupling for the stated kW. The 380V or 525V motor is quoted separately, so ask us for a complete pump-and-motor price. Always confirm the motor with us before ordering.
How to select a DL pump
- Duty flow. Work out the flow you need at the busiest time in m³/h.
- Range. Choose the range whose flow band contains your duty flow, ideally near its rated flow where efficiency is best.
- Total head. Static height + friction losses + the pressure you need at the outlet (10 m per bar) − any positive pressure on the suction.
- Stages. In the performance table on the product page, pick the model that meets your head at your flow.
- Check the inlet pressure. Suction pressure plus pump head must stay below the range pressure limit of 25 or 30 bar.
Worked example
An eight-storey block needs 6 m³/h at 45 m above the pump, with 8 m of friction and 2 bar at the top floor: total head 45 + 8 + 20 = 73 m. 6 m³/h falls in the DL5 band. From the DL5 performance table at 6 m³/h, the DL5-130 gives 63 m (too little), the DL5-150 gives 73 m (no margin) and the DL5-160 gives 78 m, the one to choose. For a building, pair it with a VSD so pressure holds steady at low demand.

Spares: cartridges and mechanical seals
Every DL range has a replacement hydraulic cartridge for each stage count, which is the fastest way to restore a worn pump, and a replacement mechanical seal. Find them under each range's spares category.
| Spares | Price range | |
|---|---|---|
| DL1 – DL5 cartridges | R1 243 – R15 003 | DL1 spares |
| DL8 – DL20 cartridges | R3 781 – R22 302 | DL8 spares |
| DL32 – DL90 cartridges | R4 634 – R43 275 | DL32 spares |
| Mechanical seals | R1 346 – R2 768 | Seals |
Installation notes
- Mount on a level, rigid base with the motor vertical, bolted down.
- Support the pipework so no load sits on the pump flanges.
- Fill and vent the pump through the vent plug before starting; never run dry.
- Fit a strainer on the suction and isolating valves on both sides.
- Minimum flow. Do not run against a closed valve; use a bypass or VSD with a sleep function.
- Check rotation on three-phase motors at first start.

Frequently asked questions
What does DL8-60 mean?
Range DL8, rated at 8 m³/h, with 6 stages. The number after the dash is ten times the stage count.
What flow does each DL range cover?
From DL1 at 0.6 – 2 m³/h up to DL90 at 50 – 120 m³/h. Pick the range whose band contains your flow.
How much pressure can a DL pump take?
Up to 25 bar on DL1 to DL20 and 30 bar on DL32 to DL90, including the inlet pressure.
Can the DL pump hot water?
Yes, liquids from −15 °C to +110 °C.
Can a DL pump handle dirty water?
No. It is for thin, clean liquids without solids or fibres. Filter the suction or choose a different pump type.
Is the motor included?
The store price is for the pump for the stated kW. The 380V or 525V motor is quoted separately; ask us for a complete price.
What is a replacement cartridge?
A complete stack of impellers and diffusers for a given model. Replacing it restores a worn pump without replacing the whole unit.
Should I use a VSD with a DL pump?
For building booster sets and variable demand, yes. The VSD holds constant pressure, saves energy and protects against running at zero flow.
Need a DL pump selected?
Send us the flow, total head, liquid and temperature, and the power on site. We will select the model, motor and controls and quote the complete unit.
